NAPAWF is the only organization focused on building power with AAPI women and girls to influence critical decisions that affect our lives, our families and our communities. Using a reproductive justice framework, we elevate AAPI women and girls to impact policy and drive systemic change in the United States.

NAPAWF was founded in 1996 to realize the vision of 100 AAPI women who recognized the need for an organization that would amplify AAPI women's stories and experiences. Being seen and heard in the public narrative gives us the power to shape the policy and cultural change needed to gain agency over our lives, families, and communities.

Today, we are mobilizing and building power in 11 cities across the United States to create social, political, and economic change for AAPI women and girls. 3 of those cities have local staff on the ground. We also show up in solidarity for other women of color who are experiencing injustice and harms of oppression and marginalization.

Our work is focused in the following strategies:

  • Policy and Structural Change
  • Organizing and Civic Engagement
  • Legal Advocacy and Judicial Strategy

We use the Reproductive Justice lens to intersectionally address three core issues:

  • Reproductive Rights and Health
  • Economic Justice
  • Immigration and Racial Justice

POSITION OVERVIEW

NAPAWF is seeking a seasoned, independent, mission driven and results oriented professional responsible for the day to day critical and confidential back-end office functions for human resources management.

An ideal candidate will have a commitment to our mission, is flexible and response to the needs of a growing organization operating in multiple and complex environments and has proven experience developing a human resources operation.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Manages processes for employee hiring, onboarding, evaluation and exiting
  • Coordinates recruitment, interviewing and facilitation the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Orients and trains new employees, administers exit procedures for ones leaving
  • Ensures managers are trained and remain compliant with union contract
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Administers employee benefits, including enrollments, changes and terminations.
  • Process payroll accurately and on time including maintaining payroll changes, allocations and deductions
  • Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
  • Support staff with benefits enrollment and troubleshooting.
  • Proactively keeps benefits up to date and finds appropriate insurance vendors
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Ensures employee, contractors and consultant files are accurate and complete
  • Manage consultant contracts for accuracy and compliance to agency policies.
  • Ensure compliance of federal and state employment laws as well as maintain current human resources practices.
  • Leads or supports investigation of complaints
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

NAPAWF is seeking a seasoned HR Generalist who has at least 5 years of human resources experience, ideally in a role supporting a growing, national, multi-state organization with an annual budget of at least $5 million

Other qualifications for consideration will be:

  • Supervisory experience
  • Commitment to the issues of AAPI and/or immigrant women and girls, health, social justice and human rights;
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence, and a history of being solutions oriented;
  • Strong organizational and communication skills;
  • Openness to learning and working within a growing organization;
  • Able to work independently, as well as on a team, and adjust to a changing and virtual workplace;
  • Proven experience adapting to a growing, face paced organization
  • Proactive and strategic abilities to respond to organizational needs and context
  • High level of emotional intelligence and ability to practice discretion when dealing with sensitive HR issues
  • Experience working in a diverse work environment, a must
  • Experience working in non-profit advocacy organizations, a plus
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary for this position is $60,000-$65,000 commensurate with experience. A highly competitive benefits package includes a 401k plan, medical, dental, and vision insurance. NAPAWF's medical plan is covered by NAPAWF at 100% for employee and dependents with no out of pocket costs, including prescription drugs costs. Qualified dependents may also be covered. NAPAWF also offers full-time employees 15 days of vacation in the first year, sick leave, flexible spending program options and personal/family leave as well as paid vacation from December 25th to January 1

WORK EVIRONMENT

This position is based in Chicago IL. It is an office based setting and but will be a remote position initially.
